Award-Winning Gay Teacher Suspended for Speaking Out Against Transgenderism
# Award-Winning Gay Teacher Suspended for Speaking Out Against Transgenderism
Ray Shelton, a gay fifth grade teacher and a two-time winner of the Glendale school district’s “Teacher of the Year” award, was placed on leave by California's Glendale Unified School District after publicly disagreeing with the transgender agenda at a school board meeting.
Shelton, who wore a T-shirt that read “Make Biology Great Again,” expressed his views on gender, biology, and sexuality in a speech that was cut short by the board. He also held up four “Progress Pride” flags arranged in a pattern to form a swastika, a meme that criticizes progressives for being authoritarian and fascist.
Shelton told The Daily Signal that he spoke what he called “basic, commonsense truths” and that he was concerned about the harm that transgender ideology is doing to children and society. He said that transgenderism is anti-gay, anti-woman, and anti-human.
Shelton faced backlash from some of his colleagues, who accused him of being a Nazi and filed a formal complaint against him. He also alleged that he was assaulted by a district official who ripped several “gay pride flags” out of his hand.
Shelton’s case is one of many examples of how teachers who dissent from the transgender orthodoxy are being silenced and punished by the education system. He said that he hopes his story will inspire others to stand up for the truth and protect children from being indoctrinated and mutilated by transgender activists.
